Walt Ames is the lead recruiter in consumer, healthcare and professional services in the firm’s Tokyo office. He has conducted numerous repeat assignments for some of the largest and most successful companies in the world, completing virtually every assignment he has received. He is a member of the State Bar of California, and a resident of Japan for more than 15 years and is fluent in oral and written Japanese.

Experience
Before he began his career in executive search, Walt was an associate professor of anthropology at Brigham Young University. He also served as President of the Japan Nagoya Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for three years.

Previously, Walt was President of the Japan subsidiary of Monitor Company, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based management consulting firm, and he was co-founder of the Tokyo office of Bain & Company, a Boston headquartered management consulting firm. He also worked in their California office.

Education
Walt earned a J.D. at Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. and M.S. in anthropology at the University of Michigan. He also has a Bachelor of Science (magna cum laude) at Brigham Young University.
